Some journeys are just about the destination.
This one is also about the experience of getting there.

In September 2027, we are heading into the Canadian Rockies by rail, timed during a season when the alpine landscape traditionally shifts into its most dramatic palette. Larch trees turn rich shades of amber and gold, the mountains feel sharper, the light softer, and the scenery feels especially cinematic. It is one of the most visually striking times of year to experience the Rockies, and there is no better way to take it in than from the rails.
This journey is operated aboard Rocky Mountaineer in their premier GoldLeaf Service, widely regarded as the gold standard of luxury rail travel in North America.

GoldLeaf Service is not just a seat on a train. It is a fully immersive experience designed around comfort, service, and uninterrupted scenery. You will travel in bi-level, glass domed railcars with panoramic windows that curve overhead, giving you unobstructed views in every direction. The upper level is dedicated to sightseeing and lounging, while the lower level houses an elegant dining room where gourmet meals are freshly prepared onboard and served with attentive, first class hospitality.

GoldLeaf Service also includes access to an outdoor viewing platform, allowing you to step outside, feel the mountain air, and take in the scenery without glass between you and the landscape. It is an especially memorable way to experience the Rockies as rivers, canyons, and mountain peaks pass by at a pace designed for soaking it all in.
Throughout the journey, hosts provide narration, point out landmarks and wildlife, and ensure every detail is handled. Meals are thoughtfully crafted, beverages are included, and service is seamless. There is no driving, no navigation, and no logistics to manage. You simply settle in, look out the window, and let the Rockies unfold in front of you.
This is luxury rail travel at its finest.

Our journey travels east from Vancouver into the heart of the Canadian Rockies, covering some of the most dramatic and varied terrain in Western Canada. Over two full days onboard Rocky Mountaineer, you will experience river canyons, mountain passes, alpine lakes, and iconic railway engineering moments that most travelers never see from the road.
Each evening, we disembark and overnight at carefully selected hotels so you can rest comfortably before continuing the journey the next day.

Day 1, Vancouver
Arrive in Vancouver and check in to the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel. The rest of the day is yours to explore at your own pace. With snow capped mountains, ocean views, and a vibrant food scene, Vancouver is the perfect starting point for this journey.
Day 2, Vancouver to Kamloops, GoldLeaf Service
Board Rocky Mountaineer and begin your rail journey east. Today’s scenery transitions dramatically, moving from the lush Fraser Valley into winding river canyons and forested mountain landscapes. Highlights include the powerful waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes along the Thompson River. Breakfast and lunch are served onboard in the GoldLeaf dining room. This evening, arrive in Kamloops and overnight at a hotel selected by Rocky Mountaineer.
Day 3, Kamloops to Banff, GoldLeaf Service
Reboard Rocky Mountaineer and continue into the Canadian Rockies. Today’s route features glacier fed rivers, snow capped peaks, mountain tunnels, and legendary rail landmarks including the Spiral Tunnels, Kicking Horse Canyon, Rogers Pass, and the Continental Divide. Breakfast and lunch are again served onboard as the scenery becomes increasingly dramatic. Arrive in Banff in the late afternoon and check in to the Moose Hotel and Suites.
